This database is fire effects monitoring data collected on US Forest Service land adjacent to Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument in Arizona. The data were collected with standard NPS FMH protocols during spring/summer/fall field seasons by the fire effects monitoring crew out of Saguaro National Park from 2002-2003. Data was collected to monitor effects of a prescribed fire. Monitoring types designated included grassland plots and FMH shrub plots placed to capture effects of woody plant encroachment into grassland. Data collected from shrub/herbaceous transects are 30 meter point intercept data to obtain cover. Shrub and seedling density was also measured using brush belts along the same transect. Photographs were taken to document change. Monitoring types defined were grassland BOGR (blue grama) and brush PIPO (ponderosa pine).
