Tidal Freshwater Wetland Herbivory in Anacostia Park

The current study was designed to document the causes and impacts of herbivory on the vegetation at Kingman Marsh using study modules consisting of one exclosed plot paired with one unfenced control plot. Since another local study had suggested that fish, etc., might be playing a significant role in limiting plant cover in the Anacostia freshwater tidal wetlands (May 2007), and we were particularly interested in herbivory caused by resident Canada geese (Branta canadensis maxima) which are in the region during the growing season.
