This study seeks to establish a bombus species distributional transect through the most remote lands in eastern US. This information can help better understand the current state of bumble bee populations in the Southern Appalachians which can help drive conservation efforts. It also seeks to identify possible landscape driven gene flow barriers among rare bumble bee populations in the Southern Appalachians. This project will be conducted in Shenandoah NP and along the Blue Ridge Parkway as well.
