Pinnacles National Monument Climate Change Scenario Planning Summary Report

This is a summary report for the Pinnacles National Monument (PINN) scenario planning project conducted in May-June 2012. The project objective was: To explore a range of plausible, science-based climate change scenarios that are relevant and challenging to Pinnacles National Monument and to describe the associated impacts and management implications, with emphasis on the monument’s fundamental resources and values. This report summarizes three future climate scenarios and their implications, and suggests potential management responses to inform development of Pinnacle’s Resource Stewardship Strategy (RSS), and other future planning efforts. Project outcomes also include potential management actions for consideration and suggested monitoring to track the climate change scenarios generated from the workshop. Note: Climate change scenario planning is a living process – the plausible climate change futures generated from this project require regular review and updating as new climate change observations and modeled projections with new data become available.
