THIS IS THE PUBLIC VERSION OF AN INTERNAL DOCUMENT. The Pennsylvania portion of the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River was surveyed to determine the presence of federal and state endangered, threatened, vulnerable, and rare plant species. Plants of Special Concern in Pennsylvania, a list issued by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry, and Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants, issued by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service on July 20, 1984, were the basis for the investigation which included herbarium studies and field surveys. One or more populations of six Pennsylvania special concern species were located in or near the Upper Delaware Corridor. Of greatest significance was the discovery of two extant populations of Chamisso's miner's-lettuce (Montia chamissoi, Portulacaceae) along the northern section of the river. There is no record, past or present, of any federally listed plant species in the study area.
