Burton J. 2015. Gulf Islands National Seashore FFI Fire Effects Monitoring Data

Fire effects monitoring data were collected at Gulf Islands National Seashore in Mississippi and Florida by the Natchez Trace Fire Effects Crew. The field season for this park is year round. Plots consist of 50 X 20 meter plots and 50 foot fuels transects. Data is collected to obtain density and basal area of overstory and pole trees, fuel load using Brown's method for inventorying surface fuels and biomass, seedling density, herbaceous cover and diversity as well as shrub density. Photographs are taken from each end of the transect to document change.
