Fire efects monitoring data were collected at Shiloh National Military Park in Mississippi by the Natchez Trace Fire Effects Crew. The field season for this park is in the summer and fall. Plots consist of 50 X 20 meter plots and 50 foot fuels transects. Data is collected to obtain density and basal area of overstory and pole trees, fuel load using Brown's method for inventorying surface fuels and biomass, seedling density as well as herbaceous cover and diversity. Photographs are taken from each end of the transect to visually document change.
