Shade and carbon treatments were initiated January, 2011. Soil temperature dataloggers were installed on in February, 2011. Soil moisture readings were collected approximately monthly throughout the peak growing season (March – June). Plant community composition measurements (foliar cover) and Bromus rubens biomass clips were conducted in May, 2011. Soil samples were collected and available nitrogen extractions performed at UNLV lab June, 2011. Competition experiment was initiated at UNLV August, 2011. Plants for experiment 3 were being propagated at Nevada Division of Forestry nursery and outplanted in November, 2011
