This goals of this project is to increase our knowledge of the presence, habits, and status of bats in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve. Bats in this region are very poorly known and the project will provide essential information on bats in this region and establish baseline information for addressing the concern for conservation of these bats because of the impending spread of White Nose Syndrome disease into bat populations in the region. The objectives of the project are to: (1) identify and characterize species of bats within the parks;(2) determine summer time habitat use,(3) determine main food sources,(4) determine whether bats are migratory or if they hibernate here,(5) locate hibernacula or determine migratory destinations.
