The southern form of the eastern brook trout, Salvelinus fontinalis (Mitchell), has become dramatically reduced in its range. A systematic study of this fish is proposed to substantiate it as a distinct taxa. Classical morphometric and meristic in addition to electrophoretic techniques will be employed to determine the current taxonomic status of this geographic isolate.
