Forest vegetation monitoring: Mid-Atlantic Network 2013 summary report

Comiskey JA and Wheeler JS. 2015. Forest vegetation monitoring: Mid-Atlantic Network 2013 summary report. Natural Resource Report. NPS/MIDN/NRR—2015/1050. National Park Service. Fort Collins, Colorado

In 2013, 75 forest vegetation monitoring plots established in 2008 in eight parks of the Mid-Atlantic Network and eight plots in two parks of the Northeast Coastal and Barrier Network were revisited. Twelve new plots were established in Colonial National Historical Park. Summary statistics are provided for forest metrics. For plots that were revisited, preliminary forest dynamics metrics were calculated including mortality, recruitment, and growth and presented by park, community type, species, size class, and canopy category. Temporal analyses are preliminary as just three-quarters the plots have been resampled once.
