Abrams Creek Otter Survey

Eleven river otters (Lutra Canadensis) were released on Abrams Creek of the Great Smoky Mountain national park between 26 February and 31 March, 1986 (Griess 1987). a survey was conducted during September through December 1987 to determine if otters were present in the Abrams Creek region. Otter sign was used to determine the presents of otters. Otter sign located on Abrams Creek indicated that river otters were still present on Abram Creek between Cades's Cove and Calderwood lake.
