A foray to collect macrofungal fruitbodies was conducted at the Rattlesnake Lodge area of the Blue Ridge Parkway, as per research permit. Specimens were removed for identification. Some were subsequently photographed, sampled for later DNA analysis, and/or preserved as vouchers. Vouchered specimens from Rattlesnake Lodge are on loan to the Field Museum in Chicago.
