Notice of USFWS Initiation of Stonefly Status Review

US Fish & Wildlife Service; Ecological Services and Bush J. 2015. Re: Notice of USFWS Initiation of Stonefly Status Review

Request for additional data to support review of status of 2 stonefly species that occupy glacier meltwater (cold) stream habitats. FWS must issue a proposed listing determination with proposed critical habitat or a not warranted finding by September 30,2016. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) is in the process of determining the status of the Meltwater lednian stonefly (Lednia tumana; hereafter MWS) and the Western glacier stonefly (Zapada glacier; hereafter WGS) and considering both species for potential listing as threatened or endangered species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended (Act). We are seeking your input to ensure we have the best available information upon which to inform the status review.
