A taxonomic survey of selected groups of insects (Class Insecta) was conducted during the growing seasons for three years, beginning in 2006 at Great Falls Park and Turkey Run Park (George Washington Memorial Parkways (GWMP)). The selected groups comprise important bioindicators of terrestrial and aquatic habitats and will include some that are economically important herbivores. The major vegetation types represented in the parks were sampled with several collection techniques. An annotated species list was prepared with special focus on species that may serve conservation management.
