Abstract: During the middle portion of August 1981, a field test was conducted to examine suspected cultural features located upon Cape Krusenstern, Alaska. These features were first delineated, examined, and mapped through the utilization of aerial photographs. A selected sample area was chosed and suspect features field checked for cultural artifacts to determine if the surface anomalies viewed and mapped from the photographs were of cultural or of natural origin. A total of 51 features were tested. Results of this testing indicated that low altitude photographs can be of vital assistance in the determination and location of suspected culturally disturbed areas in arctic tundra ecosystems.
