"Culturally relevant science for the Iñupiaq students of northwest Alaska" Interactive bilingual multi-media program covering the following topics: people, wildlife, archeology, geology, games, parklands. "Science in Our Lives was developed to make relevant natural history and cultural history information easily available to students in upper elementary classrooms in the Northwest Arctic Borough School District in Alaska. most students in these schools are Iñupiaq Eskimo. Most conventional classroom materials include little about the Arctic, or treat the Arctic as exotic and difficult. This program is devoted entirely to the Arctic. This program would not have been possible without the support and assistance of the US Department of Education, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the Alaska Department of Education, the US Weather Service, the University of Alaska Sea Grant Program, and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Ruth Sampson and Ed Tennant developed the original school district project plan, and Ruth Sampson administered the school project. Nettie Allen edited content. James Magdanz designed and developed the multimedia program, and supervised production for the Northwest Arctic Borough and the National Park Service. Funding provided by the US Department of Education, the National Park Service, and the Northwest Arctic Borough School District."
