I thought it might be helpful for me to give you an overview of six key items as you settle into your post as superintendent at JICA: 1) the status of the parks’ baseline archeological documentation, 2) an overview of major work SEAC has conducted at the parks recently, 3) a snapshot of what SEAC holds for each park in our capacity as the regional repository for archeological materials, 4) status of Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) issues at the parks, 5) major interpretive efforts conducted by SEAC on behalf of the park, and 6) status of looting or other incidents subject to documentation and/or prosecution under the Archaeological Resources Protection Act.
