Seeking a type locality for an undescribed stonefly species in Mammoth Cave National Park

An undescribed species belonging to the Leuctra tenuis group (Insecta, Plecoptera, Leuctridae) was found in several spring runs in the Interior Plateau Region in south-central Kentucky, U.S.A. The undescribed species closely resembled the broadly-distributed species L. tenuis (Pictet). Examination of material determined as L. tenuis from throughout the eastern Nearctic region confirmed that the new species was morphologically distinct. My intent was to locate populations of the undescribed species from spring run habitats in Mammoth Cave National Park (MACA). Ten positive locality records for this species were found within MACA. As a result of this work the type locality for this species is at MACA.
