As a part of a larger study that is examining controls on water quality in the Noatak National Preserve, we have begun a variety of projects to examine the patterns and processes in a variety of ecosystems. These studies fall within 3 groups, all focused up to this point in the Agashashok River basin: - Patterns and controls on nitrogen mineralization in major ecosystem types; - Patterns of spruce invasion into tundra; and - Parent materials control on ecosystem development and processes. We have a large amount of information analyzed for the first two, but data are still being processed for the third.
