Study of the impact of deer on rare plant species in cedar glades in Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park (including Psoralea subacaulis, Petalostemum gettingeri, and Leavenworthia exiguia). Used radio telemetry to determine seasonal ranges of male and female deer. Used exclosures to document the effect of excluding deer (and noted the change in competition between plant species). Documented evidence of grazing by deer and other animals. Looked at the availability and consumption of acorns. Appendix A is a list of plant species of special concern in cedar glades known to occur in Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. Appendix B is an annotated list of cedar glade plants species surveyed at the park.
