This report describes the Air Quality Related Values (AQRVs) of the Southeast Coast Network (SECN). AQRVs are those resources sensitive to air quality and include streams, lakes, soils, vegetation, fish and wildlife, and visibility. The SECN parks that are included in the NPS Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) Program, and discussed in this report, are Canaveral National Seashore (CANA), Cape Hatteras National Seashore (CAHA), Cape Lookout National Seashore (CALO), Castillo de San Marcos National Monument (CASA), Chattahoochee River National Recreational Area (CHAT), Congaree National Park (COSW), Cumberland Island National Seashore (CUIS), Fort Caroline National Memorial (FOCA), Fort Frederica National Monument FOFR), Fort Matanzas National Monument (FOMA), Fort Pulaski National Monument (FOPU), Fort Sumter National Monument (FOSU), Horseshoe Bend National Military Park (HOBE), Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park (KEMO), Moores Creek National Battlefield (MOCR), Ocmulgee National Monument (OCMU), and Timucuan Ecological and Historical Preserve (TIMU). Sullivan et al. (2011a, 2011b) and Kohut (2007) conducted risk assessments for acidification, eutrophication, and ozone (O3) for the SECN I&M parks; their results are described in this report. This report also describes air pollutant emissions and air quality in the SECN, and their effects on AQRVs. The primary pollutants likely to affect AQRVs include nitrogen (N) and sulfur (S) compounds (nitrate [NO3-] , ammonium [NH4+)], and sulfate [SO42-]), ground-level O3, haze-causing particles, and airborne toxics.
