The Mineral King Risk Reduction Project (MKRRP) was initiated out of a need to assess the operational requirements and cost effectiveness of large scale prescribed burning for wildland management in a setting altered by a century of fire suppression. This report summarizes the monitoring and research work that has been accomplished, to date, on this project. This project is aimed at determining if there is a relationship between heavy fuel accumulations and the formation of fire scars.
