The purpose of this project is to identify significant ethnographic sites on the stretches of the three Flathead headwater rivers that are designated as Wild & Scenic. Results of this study will provide Glacier National Park and the Flathead National Forest with preliminary information regarding cultural heritage values in the area to contribute to their management decisions regarding protection of outstanding ethnographic resources within the larger context of a Joint Comprehensive River Management Plan/EIS. Conclusions are drawn using oral history, written history, and archaeology.
