Accuracy Assessment of Digital Aerial Sketchmapping for Estimating Size, Placement and Extent of Buffelgrass (Pennisetum ciliare L.) Infestations in Saguaro National Park

O'Brien K and Backer D. 2013. Accuracy Assessment of Digital Aerial Sketchmapping for Estimating Size, Placement and Extent of Buffelgrass (Pennisetum ciliare L.) Infestations in Saguaro National Park

The assessment summarizes the accuracy of the mappers who used digital aerial sketch mapping (DASM) to map buffelgrass (Pennisetum ciliare L.) in Saguaro National Park during September of 2012. Following the DASM, ground-based mapping was performed in the subsequent three months to evaluate the accuracy and utility of aerial mapping. The assessment demonstrated that mappers who are experienced in the identification of buffelgrass can accurately map buffelgrass with regards to the relative size and location of buffelgrass infestations.
