Wright Brothers National Memorial is located in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. It is administered by the National Park Service Outer Banks Group, which also includes Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. The Memorial is the site of the world’s first successful, controlled, manned, heavierthan-air, powered flight, made by Wilbur and Orville Wright on December 17, 1903. The mission of the park is to commemorate the Wrights’ success on that day and to interpret the continuing worldwide significance of their dream, vision and achievement. This LRIP provides a vision for the future of interpretation at the park. The LRIP was created through a collaborative, goal-driven process that describes desired visitor experiences and recommends appropriate means to achieve them while protecting and preserving the park’s cultural and natural resources. The LRIP’s first section confirms the foundations of the park: its purpose, significance, interpretive themes, visitor profiles, visitor experience goals, issues and influences, and existing conditions. The LRIP’s second section recommends actions to be taken over the next five to seven years to improve the park’s interpretive services and media, and provides an achievable implementation strategy
