Monitoring Cave Myotis (Myotis velifer) in Wildhorse Mine, 2009

Wolf SA and Dalton DC. 2010. Monitoring Cave Myotis (Myotis velifer) in Wildhorse Mine, 2009

Previous work showed the bat-friendly gate installed at Wildhorse Mine in 2001 restricted the size of the cave myotis (Myotis velifer) colony. After experimenting with alternative configurations, we concluded last year that the removal of one of the higher bars was the best option to allow the flight space needed for the large colony. The objective for 2009 was to monitor the colony as a continuation of the long-term monitoring project.
