From executive summary: "Peak entry time and peak occupancy for the parking lot vary slightly (1 O:OOam vs. midday), suggesting that some cars are staying longer because visitors are exploring the park via the Island Explorer bus and biking and walking on the carriage roads. Nonetheless, the parking lot never filled. The data suggest that on a typical summer day in July and August there are 30-60 spaces available for cars at any given time. It is of course possible that our sampling of only eight days did not capture the true peak use and availability of parking spaces for cars. There are about two to three peak days of overall park visitation in July around the July 4 holiday and about seven in August. On these days, parking spaces at the Visitor Center may be the most limited, and may fill completely."
