'Yellow pines (Pinus rigida, P. virginiana, P. echinata, and P. pungens) and oaks (Quercus spp.) dominate the xeric slopes and ridges in western Great Smoky Mountains National Park'. Since 1940, the Park Service has suppressed fires. This study examines the changes in forest composition due to varying fire intensities. It includes information about the impact of fire on individual tree species.
