The S-R Project upgraded an existing single-circuit 230kV lattice tower line with a new 230/500kV double-circuit line using the existing right of way. Monopoles 180 to 195 feet high replaced the historic 65-82 foot lattice towers. Although the new line is taller and has more wires, three design features were included to increase visibility to flying birds. Observers conducted 465 observations hours. No collisions were visually observed or recorded by BSIs during the study period.
