Field data for the Vegetation Mapping Inventory Project of Canyonlands National Park
2004-2012. Field data for the Vegetation Mapping Inventory Project of Canyonlands National Park
This reference is an assemblage of field data collected as part the baseline vegetation inventory for the park unit. Typical files here are vegetation plot data, accuracy assessment data, field photos, PDF showing locations of vegetation plots and accuracy assessment data, and other data for this type. Ecologists collected vegetation and environmental data from 914 vegetation classification plots and 373 observation points between 2003 and 2004 to prepare the initial classification and vegetation map. Assessment of map accuracy entailed sampling an additional 2,043 data plots from spring of 2007 to late winter of 2009. Analysis of the classification plot and accuracy assessment plot data revealed 164 National Vegetation Classification Standard (NVC) plant associations, alliances, or park special vegetation types within the park and environs. Twenty-six associations were documented exclusively from accuracy assessment data, the remainder from vegetation plots and observation points.
