Field data for the Vegetation Mapping Inventory Project of Timpanogos Cave National Monument

2007-2009. Field data for the Vegetation Mapping Inventory Project of Timpanogos Cave National Monument

This reference is an assemblage of field data collected as part the baseline vegetation inventory for the park unit. Typical files here are vegetation plot data, accuracy assessment data, field photos, PDF showing locations of vegetation plots and accuracy assessment data, and other data for this type. The field team collected vegetation and environmental data from 13 vegetation classification plots and 10 observation points. No supplemental fuels data were collected during the project. Fieldwork and mapping were completed in 2007. The primary purpose of classification plot data was to derive quantitative information documenting the composition and structure of TICA vegetation types and their associated environmental conditions. These data became the basis for classifying the vegetation of the Monument. Field methods followed national program standards for vegetation classification sampling and mapping. The method we used to sample classification plots (also known as relevé sampling) is widely used by ecologists. The plot dataset was enhanced by collecting observation point data, whose primary purpose was to support aerial photo interpretation. Data gathered during this project can contribute to understanding vegetation relationships across landscapes beyond the Monument boundary.
