Field data for the Vegetation Mapping Inventory Project of George Washington Birthplace National Monument
2001-2008. Field data for the Vegetation Mapping Inventory Project of George Washington Birthplace National Monument
This reference is an assemblage of field data collected as part the baseline vegetation inventory for the park unit. Typical files here are vegetation plot data, accuracy assessment data, field photos, PDF showing locations of vegetation plots and accuracy assessment data, and other data for this type. Leaf-on and leaf-off photomosaics and the formation-level line work were obtained from NCSU-CEO in May 2002. Ecologists from VADNH conducted field data collection in George Washington Birthplace National Monument in June, September, and October 2002 and in August 2003. The objectives of the fieldwork were to evaluate the formation-level line work and to collect information to help attribute and edit the line work to reflect the alliance level of the USNVC. Additionally, detailed quantitative data from the least disturbed areas of the park were needed to augment data available for a regional vegetation classification. Since the park is small and easily accessible, a census sampling approach was followed for all vegetation polygons within the park.
