Reproductive output of channel catfish was assessed to develop pre-stocking criteria to identify the need for supplemental channel catfish stocking in warm-water streams. Post-stocking dispersal, food habits, growth, survival, and relative contribution of the hatchery-reared fish to the existing population were used to determine the fate of channel catfish stocked in Buffalo River. The study provides basic biological data on population characteristics for channel catfish inhabiting clear-water Ozark streams.
