Major additional sediment was deposited along the whole of Redwood Creek channel by the large flood of 1964. Cross sections established between 1973 and 1978 to document sediment in each area have been re-examined at least annually. This report summarizes and interprets work of the previous nine years, and presents figures for the 1982 Water Year. Important effects of the increased sediment include a decline in anadromous fish/habitat, and damage to riparian vegetation. Fold-out maps show cross section locations; other figures include black-and-white photographs and cross section drawings for some of the study reaches. Tables show storm discharges (1950-1980), cross section net changes from 1981 to 1982, cross section widths (1982), and relationship of cross section changes to water quantity.
