"PI and his graduate student, George Farnsworth, studied reproductive activities of wood thrush and ovenbirds in the park and surrounding National Forests. The 2001 report provides incubation time, clutch size and other reproductive measures for the two species. Because of low annual survival of ovenbird females, the park does not serve as a significant source population for this species. Some nests were supplemented with extra food. Survival rates were significantly higher for these nests, despite the possible attraction of predators by the act of the observer providing extra food. Parents spent considerably more time around the supplemented nests, possibly providing some protection to the nests."
