"This is the first comprehensive study of water mites in the southeastern US, running from 2000 to 2010. Collecting trips have involved 24 park watersheds and over 200 sites. It is expected that many of the species collected in this study will represent new Park or State records and some will be new to science. A fully annotated taxonomic inventory documenting occurrence and distributional data for the water mites of the Park is currently in preparation as a contribution to the ATBI, including morphological studies and DNA barcoding.
