NCMNS Chytrid Study
Cooper D. 2016. NCMNS Chytrid Study
Tissue samples were collected from 29 amphibians in the park (1 frog and 7-8 species of salamander, both aquatic and terrestrial), part of a state-wide survey. No chytrid fungi were detected in any of the samples. In tests with animals from outside the park, PI determined that slimy salamanders (Plethodon glutinosus) was much more susceptible to chytrid than the dusky salamander they tested (Desmognathus orestes).
