Gymnosperms on the Tree of Life plant collection
Kelch D. 2016. Gymnosperms on the Tree of Life plant collection
PIs collected voucher specimens and fresh tissue for DNA extraction in 2007 from conifers (gymnosperms) in the park for the Tree of Life Research Project, an effort to establish the phylogenetic relationships of all living gymnosperm species (www.tolkin.org). Material from red spruce (Picea rubens), Canada hemlock (Tsuga canadensis), Fraser fir (Abies fraseri), Virgina pine (Pinus virginiana), and pitch pine (P. rigida) were collected. Specimens and analysis were to take place at the University of California at Berkeley. The website has yet to show much information about this project.
