The purpose of this study is to perform a spatial analysis looking at the location and ages of problem black bears within the park. The study will use GIS to look at the movement and return rates of problem black bears within the park in an attempt to determine if the new management practices are efficient and effective. The study will primarily use GIS data, which has already been collected by the park. However, a thorough understanding and overview of the park’s geography will be helpful, so hiking along parts of the park with high bear densities should be advantageous to the overall analysis. We will be working with biologist Bill Stiver on this project.
