The Lower Redwood Creek Erosion Assessment and Restoration Planning Project area is located approximately 35 miles north of Eureka, California. The project area is comprised of three subareas within Redwood National and State Parks in the lower Redwood Creek watershed. In 2010 and 2011, a field crew from Pacific Coast Fish, Wildlife and Wetlands Restoration Association (PCFWWRA) assessed 62 miles of roads for potential erosion. Redwood National and State Parks (RNSP) managed all data and performed analyses to develop an erosion prevention action plan thatprioritizes all assessed sites in Redwood Creek using various analyses. The assessment identified a total of 780 sites with the potential to deliver over 372,000 yds3 of sediment to streams if left untreated. About 92% of the potential sediment volume is at sites recommended for decommissioning.
