Redwood National and State Parks (RNSP)was designated a Tsunami Ready Community in July 29, 2009. RNSP has a dual role of providing tsunami education and outreach to park staff and visitors as well as the responsibility as emergency responders to tsunami impacting the coastal areas in and adjacent to the parks. To address both these issues, the Parks. Tsunami ready Plan was integrate with the Tsunami Contingency Plan. The purpose of this plan is to minimize the loss of life and property during a tsunami. Plan updated after the north coast tsunami that resulted from the March, 2011 Japan earthquake.
