Northeast Coastal and Barrier Network shoreline position (1D) and coastal topographical (2D) change monitoring: 2015-2016 annual summary report for Gateway National Recreation Area

Psuty NP, Endicott M, Haussner E, Spahn A. 2016. Northeast Coastal and Barrier Network shoreline position (1D) and coastal topographical (2D) change monitoring: 2015-2016 annual summary report for Gateway National Recreation Area. Natural Resource Data Series. NPS/NCBN/NRDS—2016/1072. National Park Service. Fort Collins, Colorado

This Monitoring Report incorporates the changes of shoreline position (1D) and the changes of dune/beach profiles (2D) in Gateway National Recreation Area from the spring of 2015 through the spring of 2016. Following established protocols, seasonal surveys generate data sets for subsequent comparisons. Although these data alone are insufficient to identify trends of change, they do provide a series of dimensions regarding the linear distances of shoreline position changes and both linear dimensions and cross-sectional areas of beach and dune features on the profiles. A variety of figures and tables portray the metrics derived from the monitoring programs for each of the seasonal surveys and the differences among the seasonal surveys for the span of one year. Detailed data analyses and interpretation of results will be included in Trend Reports to be published every five years.
