USGS surveys from early '70s to late '90s reveal there is significant chemical variation amongst Olympic (Olympic, Sol Duc) and WA Cascade (Carson, Bonneville, Ohanapecosh, Goldmyer, Baker) springs. The objective of this research is to investigate the origins of this chemical diversity. Using water chemistry and isotopic data, the study has been able to suggest the Olympic and Cascade springs are meteoric in origin and are respectively hosted in fault-controlled and volcanic geothermal systems.
