The District Wildlife Action Plan was developed in 2005 and the Department of Energy & Environment, Fisheries and Wildlife Division, is responsible for implementing the plan. The purpose of the District herpetofauna survey is to monitor the condition of herpetofauna populations in order to better conserve species of greatest conservation need and their habitats. Currently, there are a total of 38 reptile and amphibian species listed at species of greatest conservation need in the District (22
