The purpose of this project was to collect cedar apple rust galls from cedar trees located on the Gettysburg National Military Park. Caused by the plant pathogenic fungus, Gymnosporangium juniper-virginianae, cedar apple rust is an economically important disease of both cedar and apple trees. Galls were used to study disease development and management at the Penn State Fruit Research and Extension Center in Biglerville, PA.
