Preliminary Assessment: The Ecoregional Biodiversity Monitoring (EBM) program of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) monitors bird and mammal populations across 20% of California and 50% of its forests. In 2014, we implemented a pilot project to evaluate the feasibility of ultrasonic recorders and automated species recognition software to survey bats in forest habitats.
