Just as the notion of wilderness has evolved over time, so has the concept of a wilderness experience. In this study, we explore the concept of a “near-wilderness” experience at Denali National Park. Using qualitative interviews of visitors on the Denali Park Road, a number of potential indicators of quality for the near-wilderness experience are identified.
