This study was funded by a fiscal year 2015 Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Ohio State Historic Preservation Office (grant number PF15AF0059) and a sub-grant to the City of Athens, Ohio (project number OH-15-11). The sub-grant provided for a feasibility study for reuse of the Armory including market research on potential uses, return on investment (ROI) and development plans. From introduction: "The Athens Armory Market Study provides a summary of the potential uses and prospective users of the historic Athens National Guard Armory. The research was conducted to align with the character of uptown Athens, the interests of the residents of the near neighborhoods and the demand for public and private enterprise opportunities. The study recommendations are grounded in the financial requirements to operate and invest in the Armory as part of a sustainable strategy for city revenue generation."
