These guidelines were funded by a fiscal year 2013 Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Colorado State Historic Preservation Office (grant number P13AF00043) and a sub-grant to the City and County of Denver, Colorado (project number CO-13-013). The subgrant provided for the development of a more user-oriented and web-friendly set of design guidelines to inform Denver citizens and historic property owners of the city's historic design review parameters, and to guide design review decision-making by the Denver Landmark Preservation Commission and staff. The 1995 design guidelines were updated, adopting 10 new guidelines for 35 historic districts and identifying character-defining features in remaining 25 districts. The Denver Landmark Preservation Commission adopted design guidelines on August 8, 2014. Updates and revisions to these design guidelines were adopted by the Denver Landmark Preservation Commission on January 27, 2016, pursuant to Article II, Chapter 30 of the Denver Revised Municipal Code.
